Writer. Recovering techie.

Dubliner in Montréal / Tiohtià:ke.

I grew up in Dublin, spent a few years in Stockholm, and now my home is in Montréal. A writer of short stories and poems, I still have mad notions of one day finishing the novel that's in bits and pieces on my laptop.

I was gobsmacked and grateful to be awarded the 2025 Cúirt New Writing Prize. My stories have been published in Crannóg Magazine, Sky Island Journal, River, and The Galway Review. See the Writing tab at the top right of this page for a complete list with links.

After years of proscratination and self-doubt, it was only during the pandemic that I finally put some concerted effort into writing fiction. It didn't take me very long to realise that my enthusiam far exceeded my ability, so I signed up for the creative writing modules at The Open University (first A215, then A363) where I benefited from the guidance of two brilliant tutors, the poets Dr. Christy Ducker and Dr. Anne Caldwell.  Since then I've continued my learning at Philip Schultz's Writers Studio in workshops led by wonderful teachers including Lael Cassidy, Nancy Matsunaga, Lorraine Babb, and Nancy Connors.
